Weiss Asset Management is seeking self-motivated software engineering co-ops to design, develop, and maintain large-scale high-impact investment and operations systems.
At Weiss, technology is a core aspect of our business. In order to support our investment edge, we often find the need to develop proprietary systems as necessary. The domain of our problems spans from researching and developing machine learning tools to designing scalable, robust systems through which millions of dollars of activity will flow daily. Our emphasis on hiring great people and building robust, extensible systems allows us to keep our team small and flexible, minimizing overhead and maximizing individual impact and freedom.
We primarily work in Python, C#, and SQL, though we also use tools like C++, F#, Matlab, R, or Common Lisp when appropriate.
- Expected completion of an undergrad or graduate degree in Computer Science, or similar.
- Experience in a general purpose programming language such as Python, Java, C#, C++, or similar.
- Strong problem-solving and programming skills.
- Demonstrable skill in designing and implementing scalable, robust, and extensible systems.
- The desire and ability to learn new approaches when necessary for the task at hand.
